Have you been avoiding your local hair salon, in fear that you’ll get another bad hair cut? When you’re a male, getting the right hair cut is quite important, as a bad one can not only result in taunts from your mates, but a lowered self esteem. Rather than letting your hair grow to become unmanageable, consider what options you have for ensuring you get the best hair cut available. Selecting the right person to cut your hair is vital to what your new do will turn out like. Most young adults will go to whatever salon their mother, sister or partner suggested to them, however, these hairdressers may not excel in men’s hair cuts. Also, men who visit hairdressing salons to get their hair cut may feel a little ‘uncomfortable’ being in the salon. While it may be an ideal environment for women to chat away and relax in, men may feel a bit uneasy being around all female hairdressers and clients. The solution to this? Finding a haircutting place for men only. Mens only hairdressing salons – commonly known as barber shops – is the place to arrange your haircut if you are a male. Barbershops have male hair cutters, and cut only men’s hair – thus giving you the piece of mind that their main expertise lays in cutting men’s hair. Barbers are trained to cut hair using clippers, as this is the main tool for cutting men’s hair (as opposed to hairdressers who are trained in many different areas, so don’t have one particular area that they excel in). As well as being a great place for men of all ages to get their hair cut, visiting your local barber shop is a great way to get away from everyone and have a chat with your barber. Barbershops are well known for being an ideal place for blokes to chat – you can sit down, be groomed and listen to endless stories from your barber or neighbour. The fact that barber shops specialise in men’s hair cuts, means that you can get a great opinion on what hair cut will be best suited for you. Unlike hairdressing salons where there are only a few pictures lying around of different men’s hair cuts, barbershops generally have a variety of different men’s hair cut pictures for you to browse through. While some barbershops still offer ‘razor shaves’, it is becoming less commonly available. However, most barbers are still happy to do moustache and beard trims. At only a few dollars, why not treat yourself and have a professional groom your facial hair? You can avoid uneven cutting (by doing it yourself), sit back and relax while someone does it for you. Barber shops are also the place to visit when you are looking for quality men’s hair products. Not only will you be able to find out what the best product to use for your hair is, but the barber can also show you the correct application. There are also some barbers that sell ear and nose trimmers and hair clippers (if you prepare cutting your own hair). So next time you are thinking about where to get your hair cut next, choose a salon that specialises in men’s hair cuts. Not only will you get to avoid girly salons with chatty hairdressers, but you can get a great hair cut. Visit the barber shop yourself, go with a friend or make it a father and son activity for the day. |
